Ali Habaj holds an M.B.A in Marketing from the University of Bristol, UK and a General Management Program for top executives from Harvard University, USA to add to his credentials. Having worked in Oman for over 23 years in management roles, he possesses rich experience of which he led Oman Flour Mills Co. SAOG and Atyab Investments from 2000 to 2017. During Habaj’s tenure in OFM, the company’s workforce grew from 220 to 1,500 employees. It was under his leadership that Atyab Investments was created, an investment arm focused on value addition through downstream industries. This is evidenced by a notable achievement in revenue growth from 60 Mn USD in 2010 to 220 Mn USD in 2016. Atyab Investments built Oman’s largest industrial bakery and successfully turned around the country’s major poultry farms- broiler and layer facilities. Amy Kitchingman is a British TV presenter, emcee, model and journalist. After winning the title Miss Great Britain in 2008 and placing 3rd in the Miss World Tourism Finals, Amy pursued a career in modelling, where she modeled for international brands Calvin Klein, L'oreal and Oakley eyewear. After studying for a degree in Media and performing arts and later specializing in journalism and broadcasting at the London academy of media, Amy was ready to step in-front of the camera and begin her career as a TV personality. Starting in London Amy hosted interactive TV quiz show. Where she developed her interpersonal skills which have in turn made her a great interviewer for the shows she currently works on. Initially Amy began her work in Dubai as a news correspondent for international new agency BGTV.
Nicolas Tsikhlakis is CEO and vice chairman of Modern Flour Mills and Macaroni Factories in Amman, Jordan. He is also founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Good Harvest Investment Company. Mr. Tsikhlakis holds a BS degree in Biology from the University of Miami and a Masters degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Jordan. In addition, he studied milling engineering at the Swiss School of Milling, one of the most important international training centers for grain milling technology and attended Lutzern Baking Institute in Switzerland. He has acquired additional expertise in Commodity Price Management, Grain Marketing and Export, Wheat Grading and Inspection (US Department of Agriculture), Grain Storage and Handling (US Wheat Associates) and Commodity Price Management (Chicago Board of Trade). He is a member of the Association of Operative Millers (AOM) and the American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC). He serves on the Board of Directors of the IAOM (International Association of Operative Millers) - Middle East and East Africa District. He is also a member of the Technical Committee and Chairman of the Union of Grain Millers Cooperative in Jordan and a member of the Jordanian Nutrition Higher Council. He served on the board of directors of GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and on the Executive management team of FFI (Flour Fortification Initiative). He serves on the board of the jordan Restaurant Association.
Since 1999, Dr. Hischam El-Agamy has been an Executive Director at IMD, the leading global business school based in Switzerland. An expert in family business, competitiveness of nations and cluster development, Dr. El-Agamy has organized several conferences and forums in Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and India focused on strategy, entrepreneurship and family business transformation. He authored several articles in these fields and was awarded the case writing award from the European Foundation for Management Development in 2002 and 2005.

Through his excellent leadership and well–structured team, Al Ghurair Resources International from a small regional player, has been transformed into a major supply chain solution provider, doing 8m MT of trade each year, of soft commodities such as, wheat, maize, barley and Oil seeds such as, Canola seed, Soybeans and animal proteins such as, soybean meal and canola meal. Major traded destinations are GCC, South East Asia, East Africa and North Africa and origins remain as North and South America, Australia and the black sea.
Eduardo Doyhambehere is currently based in Geneva from where he leads Bunge's grains, oilseeds and proteins distribution efforts in Africa, Mediterranean and the Middle East regions. Following his graduation at the Universidad Catolica in Argentina he started an international career in agri commodities trading. He has almost 30 years of experience in agri business, starting in 1989, when he joined the Andre group in Argentina. Joined Bunge in 2002, where he held several positions in Argentina, US and Europe before settling down in Geneva in 2015.
Michel has been managing the Middle East & Africa department of the Cargill Grains and Oilseeds division since 2000. His team’s responsibilities consist of handling the trade and operations of grains and oilseeds products originated from excess areas (e.g. mainly Black Sea, West Europe, North and South America) to state owned entities, flour millers, feed millers and distribution companies of the Middle East and Africa. He also develop some investment projects in the Middle East & Africa in view of optimizing the supply chain of commodities. Michel developed Cargill Egypt via the acquisition and construction of a crush plant (NVO) and a port elevator in Dekheila (NSC). Following the AWB acquisition in 2011, and while keeping his Middle East & Africa responsibilities, he became the chairman of the Board of AWB Geneva where he worked on the integration with Cargill existing businesses. Between 1990 when Michel joined Cargill and in 2000, he undertook several jobs including corn and Forex trading, project finance in petroleum as well as the opening of an office in Morocco. He was also Cargill country manager in Kazakhstan, and led the Cargill joint venture company “Dan”, where he had developed a wheat origination network, the exports out of Kazakhstan and the acquisition of inland elevators.
Mr. van Hoorn is the Global Trading Manager of Glencore Agriculture’s Grains Department. He has been with the company for 8 years and is based in Rotterdam. Prior to Glencore Agriculture, Mr. van Hoorn spent 10 years working at Nidera and has a total of 18 years’ experience in the grain industry.
Don Campbell is General Manager – International for GrainCorp Ltd, Australia’s largest listed Agribusiness. He has 30 years’ experience in Trading and Management roles across three major commodity groups (Grain, Vegetable Oil and Cotton) having worked within multinational and regional companies. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Agricultural Marketing.
Pedro Nonay is Head of the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Region and Regional Head of Grains for EMEA at Louis Dreyfus Company. A Spanish and Swiss national, he joined the company as Grains & Oilseeds COO for Europe and the Black Sea in 2007, after nearly 20 years at Cargill. Appointed Oilseeds Manager for Europe and the Black Sea in 2010, Pedro later took on additional responsibilities as Head of Distribution Countries in Europe. He subsequently served as Regional Head of Oilseeds for EMEA between 2015 and 2018, when he moved across to serve as Regional Head of Grains for EMEA, and has held his current role as Head of EMEA Region in parallel since 2017. Pedro graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) with Political Science, Sociology and Law degrees, and completed an Executive Business Program at IESE Business School in Lisbon (Portugal).

Mr Basse is an economist that has been in the commodity business since 1979. Raised on a dairy/grain farm in Waukesha, Wisconsin, MrBasse has a keen sense of production agriculture. Mr Basse graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1979 and has worked with Professional Farmers of America, Brock Associates and the ag research division of GNP Commodities in Chicago. In 1987, Mr Basse founded AgResource Company to serve the needs of the US and world agricultural community. Mr Basse is a member of Farm Foundation and the Commodity Market Council.
Indrek Aigro is involved with the international grain business since 2003 when he started working for Kesko Agro. Today he works for Copenhagen Merchants which is one of the largest grain & oilseed brokers in Europe. Although his core competence is the Baltic Sea export markets, he today specializes on the business development – one of the recent moves was the expansion of the CM to the Black Sea markets. During the last 15 years he has witnessed a fast transformation of the Baltic and Black Sea markets from importing countries into major exporters. In his presentation he will give us an insight to the real quality and supply from the Baltic Sea.
Fracois Gatel was born in 1955. He is married and has four children. He holds a Post Graduate Degree in agro-sciences, Agricultural Engineer from Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon (1978) and Master in Nutrition from the University of Paris VI (1981). He started his career with the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) in the Digestive physiology department. In 1983, he joined a Technical Institute specialized in Cereals and Fodder crops (ITCF) renamed ARVALIS, the French arable crops R&D Institute: he was in charge of the development of the use of cereals and protein for animal feed. In 1998, at the head of the Quality and Valuations department, he is in charge of the whole chain from the grain crop, through the storage to the final use of cereals, potatoes, protein and fodder crops (human, industrial and animal feed use). In 2006, he is appointed Director of France Export Céréales, a non-profit organisation. Its purpose is to promote French cereals and the French cereal sector on foreign markets. He is also Conseiller du Commerce extérieur de la France (CCE - French Trade advisors) since 2009.
Ian Flagg is the Regional Vice President of USW Associates Rotterdam for Europe, Middle East, and North Africa based at the regional headquarters in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Before accepting his current position, Flagg was the Assistant Regional Director in Cairo, Egypt, Regional Director in Casablanca, Morocco, the market analyst at the headquarters in Arlington, VA, and was deputy director of the West Coast, Portland, OR, where he was responsible for the liaison work between the grain trade and state wheat commissions. Flagg joined US Wheat Associates in 2005. Prior to joining USW, Flagg has worked as a Research Assistant at the North Dakota State University. Flagg holds and MS degree in agribusiness and applied economics from the same university.

Sebastien graduated Commercial engineer from the Belgian University of Leuven in 1999. After his study, he started with the Ameropa fertilizer trading team, where he exported the NPK’s fertilizers from Black Sea/Baltic to Central and Latin America. In 2006, he joined the Ameropa Grain team in Lausanne, where he has been developing the Middle East and Eastern African market. He has been supplying various mills to the MENA area with different type of wheat from various origins with a focus on Black Sea, where Ameropa recently launched a new terminal in Constanta.
After graduating from Ghent University in Belgium with masters’ degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Biochemistry, Johny gained experience in the trade of agricultural commodities in various roles, before being appointed Agriculture Manager for SGS Belgium. More recently, Johny was appointed Vice President Technical Governance for the SGS Group’s Agriculture and Food Services (now Agriculture, Food and Life), in Geneva, a position he has held for more than a decade. Specializing in the technical and food safety aspects of agricultural products, Johny is also chairman of the GAFTA superintendents committee and a GAFTA arbitrator.
Michael is a leading Trade & Commodities lawyer and a recognized international disputes and arbitration specialist. He has considerable knowledge of the Black Sea region and advises on both hard and soft commodity issues. Michael specializes in international dispute resolution governed by arbitration bodies including ICSID, UNCITRAL, LCIA, and ICC as well as trade association tribunals such as GAFTA, FOSFA, CTF, LME, SAL and RSA. In addition to arbitration work, Michael advises clients on disputes before the English High Court and in the context of private mediations. His remit also covers advising on international sanction regimes as well as issues arising out of the OECD bribery and corruption convention. Second Generation Owner of Flour Mills, Bachar Boubess holds a BBA Degree from the Schiller College of London from the year 1979. Bachar also underwent a Milling Course from the Kansas State University in the year 1991. He is an ex-chairman of IAOM 1996 in Beirut, and is the co-founder and board member of IAOM in Jordan since 1988. Currently, Bachar is CEO of Modern Mills of Lebanon SAL and board of director in Crown Flour Mills and Bakaa Flour Mills. His background exhibits international work experience having worked in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Romania.
A third generation Flour Mills owner, Karim Boubess is currently Chief Operating Officer at Modern Mills of Lebanon SAL. He is also a Managing Partner at KAYA International SARL trading company for baking accessories. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business at American University of Beirut. At present, Karim is also involved with Milling Technologies 1+2 from Buhler, Uzwil. Besides this, he has undergone inspection training with Cotecna Geneva and Argentina.

Omar Essa Al Ghurair is a Board Member of Essa Al Ghurair Investment L.L.C, UAE and Sohar Flour Mills, Oman. He also serves as the Operations Manager of Northstar Trading L.L.C, UAE.

As Digital Officer at Bühler, Stuart Bashford is responsible for setting and delivering the company’s digitalization strategy. He began his career at Bühler in 2013 in London, as Head of Software and Hardware Development. Prior to joining Bühler, he worked at a high-tech start-up company for ten years designing control systems for lasers used in the solar panel and display industry. Prior to this he worked in the semiconductor industry for Applied Materials. He is MBA qualified and has a background in hardware and software design and a passion for technology and innovation.
Tarik Gahi joined US Wheat in Casablanca, Morocco on January 1, 2015 as a Milling & Baking Technologist where he is involved in the development, service, and expansion of the technical side of the market for US wheat and wheat products. Tarik conducts in-house milling/baking activities to reinforce the superior end-use characteristics, of HRS, HRW, SRW, SW, and durum wheat compared to competitor origins. Prior to USW, Tarik graduated from the IFIM (the Moroccan Milling School) in 2002 and subsequently joined Al Ghurair Food group in Dubai, UAE as a shift miller from Sept 2002 to Oct 2008, before joining Seaboard West Africa Limited in Freetown, Sierra Leone as Operation manager. Two years later, Tarik decided to come back to Morocco, joining one of the major mills in Morocco Moulins Fassia as a head miller/Operations manager. Tarik Gahi is a Moroccan citizen born in Beni Mellal in 1982, married and has two lovely kids.
Mr. Gernot Ruppert joined Bühler in 2018 as Product Manager in Milling Solutions responsible for automation solutions & digital services. Before joining Bühler, Gernot Ruppert was working at Rieter AG in Winterhur, Switzerland as a Product Manager for 4 years. He holds a masters degree in Textile technology & management at the University of Reutlingen.
Lutz Popper read food technology at the Berlin University of Technology, followed by research and instruction activities at the Institute of Food Technology. In his Ph.D. thesis he treated the extraction and application of anti-microbial enzymes. Since December 1993, Popper is with Muehlenchemie, as head of research and development, and since 2009 also as scientific director of the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe. He is an external lecturer for food technology at the Kiel University of Technology since 1997, at the University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, since 2013 and at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences, Berlin, since 2015 and has contributed 180 articles, posters and lectures and a book to the field of food science.

After completing assignments in plant commissioning, he was made responsible for the milling technology in Northern Europe. Back to headquarters in Switzerland, Peter Striegl was heading the technology department of the grain milling in Switzerland. From 2012 to 2015 he was responsible for the milling technology word wide. Since 2015, Peter Striegl is Head of Business Development, in the Business Unit Wheat & Rye, Uzwil, Switzerland.
Andreas Aepli is the Managing Director for Bühler Insect Technology Solutions (BITS). BITS provides modular solutions for the industrial-scale transformation of organic residues into quality ingredients for food and feed; covering the entire supply chain from feedstock handling to rearing, separation and extraction. Andreas was directly responsible for the project that lead to the opening of the world’s first industrial-scale insect protein plant in the Netherlands – he heads both BITS teams in Switzerland and China since 2017.
Andreas holds an MBA from INSEAD and a B.A. from the University of St. Gallen and has been with Bühler since 2008. Before starting BITS, Andreas has built Bühler’s Sales & Service presence in the emerging market of Pakistan as well as in Nigeria and Sudan. Prior to that, he oversaw Finance & Commercial operations for Iran and later for the entire Middle East & North Africa region based out of Turkey.
Dr. Morantes is the Director of Food Safety-North America for Buhler Inc. In this position, he has the opportunity to interact with the entire Food and Feed Value chain and is a member of the Buhler Global Food and Feed Safety team, driving innovations in technologies to develop customer solutions for both Mycotoxin risk management and Bacterial contamination reduction.

Kamaldeep Singh Phull, Managing Director of Maisha Flour Mills Ltd and Kenya Steel Fabricators Ltd since 2004. Maisha Flour Mill Ltd, based in Kiganjo, Kenya is a wheat mill and animal feed manufacturing facility set up in 1993. Kenya Steel Fabricators Ltd, is a steel fabrication and mechanical engineering facility based in Nairobi, Kenya, since 1988 and has been closely involved in the milling industry in East Africa since. Kamaldeep holds a BSc degree in Manufacturing Management & Business Studies form Middlesex University, London and is also a graduate diploma holder from the renown Swiss Milling School, St. Gallen, Switzerland. He is also the current Vice Chairman of the Cereal Millers Association, Kenya and the Chair of the Technical committee.

Peer Hansen; Biochemist from University of Copenhagen. His career spans 30 years of dedication to science and creation of industrial applications based on frontier science. During the past 20 years he has been involved in application of the newest scientific discoveries and industrial solutions in the grain storage and processing industry. Peer Hansen was the first to developed in-bin Moisture Monitoring and in-bin Spoilage detection with CO2 measurements. This has turned out to set the standards for the industry.
Peer Hansen has become most known for his research into elimination of infestation and Toxins (Aflatoxin and other Mycotoxins) in stored grain with the aid of Ozone. Peer Hansen’s laboratory under the Crop-Protector organization has made the first full scale treatment machines to eliminate Toxins on-site in large grain storage facilities. Peer Hansen cooperate with scientists in several different countries.
Jessica Wiertz is joining Brabender GmbH & Co. KG since 2016 as the head of the food application laboratory. She is responsible for the application fields of rheology and food/feed extrusion. Additionally, she holds an MBA degree in Higher Education and Research Management.

Martin Hallin is a Swedish citizen living in Stockholm, Sweden. He has a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and has spent his career working with sales and marketing of equipment for the food industry. For the first 10 years he was working with process equipment for the vegetable oil industry. In 1995 he started to work for Perten Instruments AB in Stockholm. During his time in Perten he has held various positions in both Area Sales Management and Marketing. Since approx. 10 years Martin is Product Manager for the full Rheology range within Perten instruments.

Pietro comes from an Italian family with tradition in milling started by his grandfather. After graduating as milling technologist in Torino, he went on to proceed with assignments in process designs and plants commissioning worldwide. He was appointed Sales Area Manager for Northern Europe, and later on moved to SouthEast Asia and Oceania. In 2004, Pietro joined Omas, and became Commercial Director four years later. He also became Omas shareholder in 2012. His technical and commercial expertise is instrumental in the role he plays in Omas' worldwide activities.

Mr. Elias El Cheikh joined Bühler in September 2000 to complete his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. In March 2001 he was appointed as Project Manager in the Milling Engineering Department, parallel to this, Mr. El Cheikh finished his Master’s degree in Engineering and International Sales Management. From 2002 to 2004 he completed a “learning by doing” program in Sales Support at the Bühler headquarter in Uzwil. After 4 years in Switzerland he accepted a challenge abroad with Bühler Johannesburg in the Sales Department Milling, where after he accepted the lead in the Feed Department in Southern Africa. After completing his assignments in Africa, he accepted the responsibility for Feed Milling in the Middle East and Northern Africa region. Mr. El Cheikh has been Managing Director of Bühler Beirut since 2012 as well as being the Regional Area Manager for Feed in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Renato Dall’Agata holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a C.S.Q.A. Master’s degree in Environmental Systems from the University of Padua, as well as a Master’s degree in Logistics, Materials and Supply Chain Management from the SDA Bocconi University of Milan. He is the Engineering & Energy Director at FAVA S.p.A. since 2014. FAVA S.p.A. is a market leader operating in the field of industrial pasta production equipment. Renato has over 20 years experience in project engineering, operations management and energy management, across national and international markets, in the food industry, automation and robotics, photovoltaic cell - module production, biomass and geothermal systems.

First involvement in pasta sector in 1985 where I have been in charge of Operations…till 2005…of several italian and international pasta Companies.
